Broadway and Off-Broadway have roared back to life in New York. That's the good news; the bad news is that the ever-rising cost of tickets makes it hard to take full advantage of what the city's stages have to offer. But the situation is not as dire as it may seem: Discount Broadway tickets are everywhere, and modern technology makes it easier than ever to find cheap seats, even at the last minute. If you play your cards right, you can even score seats for sold-out hits like Hamilton. Here are the five best ways to get your hands on cheap Broadway tickets.

Great a resource as it is, TKTS has limitations: You have to wait there in person, often for a long time, and you can only get tickets on the day of the show (or the day before a matinee). Thankfully, the Internet provides alternatives. The popular TodayTix app lets you find discounted tickets on your mobile phone up to month in advance; discount deals are listed alongside tickets being sold at regular prices. Another reliable online source for cheap Broadway seats is New York Show Tickets; membership there costs about $5 per month. Good discounts can be also be found at BroadwayBox, TheaterMania, Playbill and GoldStar. Consider visiting all of these options and shopping around for the best bargain. And in January/February and September, you can avail yourself of the two-for-one deals offered through the Broadway Week program. (But remember: The usual online ticketing fees, generally $10 to $15 per ticket, tend to apply when you use these discounts, and that can bite into your savings.)

If you are in NYC already then for half price tickets go to the South Street Sea Port TKTS office at 1823 W. 27th St. No lines! Great prices! If you wNt to see more than one show - you can take you ticket from the first show and go to the Times Square location to the front of the line to get another ticket! It's the best kept secret on Broadway!

Of course the best seats in the house are the most expensive, because everyone wants center orchestra tickets. But these are never the cheapest - most Broadway shows are actually charging extra for them, making them much more expensive that a regular orchestra seat.

You can make it a lot cheaper to go to a Broadway show if you go as a large group. The requirement is often around 15-20 people to achieve the cheaper group rate, and they will give you a better deal than the best cheap ticket deal out there currently and then they will make it more cheap by taking off another 10-15%. Obviously to get these cheap Broadway tickets you have to plan a group to come to the same Broadway show, which is never an easy feat.

If you want to see Hamilton, the best way to do it is to buy tickets the minute they go on sale. The cheapest tickets tend to sell out first. Since that probably isn't an option for you this trip, you have a few choices:

is the best site. This is the official ticket seller. If the tickets are sold out (likely) then you can choose to buy resale tickets from them. Where it says "type" you need to check see verified resale tickets in addition to other options. Resale tickets will be in pink. These tickets will be marked up, the seller sets the price. They are guaranteed authentic though.

Ter- Early on there were some fake Hamilton tickets sold on stubhub. They then made it more difficult to sell Hamilton tickets on their site (you have to be approved before you can list them - or at least you did a year ago). On Hamilton's site, they say that sites other than ticketmaster and broadway.com run a risk of fraudulent tickets. There could also be financial reasons.

New York City is a place of wonder, possibility, and the best arts and entertainment in the world. It can also be a budget busting trip no matter how nearby you live. Of course New Jersey has plenty to offer and we will keep telling you about it, but Jersey Family Fun wants to help you visit the Big Apple more, and spend less while doing it.

My mum has booked for herself, me and my brother to go to (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);)(function()ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-62792288', '');, 'log_autolink_impression');NYC next April 2015. We are very keen to catch a Broadway show whilst we're there - but we are after some advice for the best way to do it! Is there a British site that sells Broadway tickets? Has anyone got any advice on hows best to go about it?

You're right, you probably won't get tickets to Wicked on the cheap - the best way to buy tickets is to go to -tickets and just selct your date, it will then take you through to ticketmaster, you can pay using any credit or debit card, and collect the tickets from the box office. Its been a few years (2010), but this is exactly what I did.

Unlike some of the previously mentioned discounted ticket options, these special theater week offers include popular family shows such as "Wicked" and "The Lion King." (In fact, this limited-time option is how I originally introduced my theater-loving kiddo to Broadway musicals.) Tickets usually go on sale about three weeks in advance, with tickets for the next theater week (which takes place from Sept. 6-25) available to buy starting Aug. 16.

Almost any piece of Americana can find a home on Broadway. From The Book of Mormon to SpongeBob SquarePants, the rows of theaters that fill Midtown Manhattan have been dazzling audiences for generations. This is where Rodgers and Hammerstein became household names and where New York City became a cultural powerhouse, and Broadway tickets are one of the best ways to guarantee an unforgettable evening out.

Thank you for creating this guide. I feel it is a great starting off point. I want to surprise my wife for her 60th birthday, a week+ of broadway plays ( 3 minimum ), best seats in the house, best times of the week but also open to the Wednesday matinee. How can I attain my goal? Our visit from Portland, Oregon will be late summer/early fall (is this in the play season?) Are there such things as backstage passes to meet the stars?

This app pulls together a list of several discount Broadway shows. The pros are it is easy and allows you to see all the discount options for tickets available for shows in NYC in one place. The cons are there is a pretty hefty booking fee, unless you choose a no-fee promotion. These days you can also see some rush and lottery tickets here and either enter or purchase them. 041b061a72
